La Xenia offers Internship Programmes in Switzerland and Globally<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Switzerland the majority of internships in fact demand a fairly high level of German or French language skills, so students must pass a German language test.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As a result of this La Xenia offers alternative global-oriented internships which gives students a global skill building experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Students are able to look for an internship position themselves and La Xenia will assist them in their quest as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Internships provide students with an experience that enhances a student\u2019s sense of responsibility and encourages them to become independent and productive individuals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For undergraduate students, internships in Switzerland are offered for all students who can pass the German\/French language test.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For postgraduate students, internships are not mandatory but are still included in the programmes if the student chooses to participate. Internships in Switzerland are only available if students speak a certain amount of German\/French.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Internship training is embedded into all the study programmes at La Xenia and offers students the opportunity:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
of participating in one (1) internship training per academic year in an organisation that has been carefully selected and vetted by La Xenia<\/p>\n\n\n\n
to gain paid work experience in a Swiss hospitality organisation<\/p>\n\n\n\n
to experience the hospitality industry in Switzerland, which is known throughout the world for its reputation of the finest hospitality venues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the first year, the internship will be at a junior support role, where the student will practice the skills that they learned during their first six months at La Xenia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
School of Hospitality students will train in either service, housekeeping or other supportive roles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
School of Culinary Arts students will train in the kitchen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the second year, the internship will see students taking on more responsibilities and may have contact with guests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
La Xenia is dedicated to assisting students achieve the best learning opportunity possible during their internship training. La Xenia employs an Industry Training Coordinator solely for this purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Students can avail the services of the Industry Training Coordinator free-of-charge,as long as the students meet the requirements set forth by La Xenia. These requirements include personal attitude, classroom attendance, a minimum grade point average and good language skills. These requirements are achieved by most of the students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Internship training salaries in Switzerland are negotiated between the employer and the Federal Employee Union and are presently set at CHF 2,212 per month gross. From this salary, students may have to pay for their room and board and taxes. The average net income per month ranges between CHF 900 to CHF 1,200.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Besides internship in Switzerland, La Xenia together with MGWEG provide an opportunity for students to do their internship in other countries such as the USA, UK, other EU countries other than Switzerland, Australia, United Arab Emirates (Dubai), Thailand, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Global internships are available for an additional fee. Salary and other benefits depend on each country. Kindly contact the Student Service Center for more details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Together with MGW, La Xenia provides global career and placement support opportunities for La Xenia graduates after completing their programme of study at La Xenia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
La Xenia also works with numerous international placement agencies that specialize in placing graduate students in Europe, Asia, Australia, Middle East and the Americas. This service includes preparing resumes and applications, tips for job interviews, job prospecting, and preparing extensive documentation for visa and work permit applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
La Xenia also offers career days for employers to come to Switzerland and recruit students for their internship and job opportunities directly on campus as well as La Xenia participates in numerous career fairs to expose its graduates to global career opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
